James - 9November 21, 2004 Earthly existence can contain difficult circumstances that are hard to face and triumph over. Self-enlightenment is the key to being able to face those situations. Self-enlightenment allows you to see the conditions of life for what they are; teaching situations, opportunities for giving selfless love, and obtaining self-knowledge. No, I am not being a Polly Anna here. I am merely drawing your attention to the fact that earthly life is an opportunity for soul growth that, at some point, you chose by your own free will. That is not to say that all such difficulties were, or are, chosen for self-knowledge. Life on earth is not a sole experience … it is a group experience designed for soul advancement. Experiencing earthly life means living with other souls who are also seeking self-knowledge and enlightenment. Therefore, as individuals meet, unique souls become involved with other unique souls. Thus, souls, minds and bodies become inter-connected, which can cause, at times, such things as physical problems, economic uncertainty, and environmental situations which must be faced if self-knowledge and enlightenment are to be achieved. God, or Spirit, did not design these difficult situations for individuals to face … the interplay of individual souls caused them themselves. Facing and surmounting these situations brings soul growth. Blaming Spirit for the problems simply brings self-disillusionment rather than enlightenment. JAMES
