Basil's Weekly Message

“James, during my meditation this morning, Spirit suggested that I should ask you about “Faith.”

“Faith! Yes, that is a problem for some folks as far as enlightenment is concerned.

“Okay. Faith is indeed necessary if you are to be fully enlightened. However, the question that immediately arises is … faith in what?

“You will recall, I am sure by this time, that enlightenment requires self-knowledge. And, among other things, self-knowledge (once attained) requires faith in self.

“Faith in self is not easy. To have self-knowledge you need to know all of your warts and blemishes, and sometimes they are not a pretty sight to behold. Thus, you must either change those warts and blemishes – or, you must accept yourself as you are …but knowing that you will not add new warts and blemishes to yourself.

“To change even a few aspects of your life is not easy. It is a severe challenge. However, making those changes will help to bring about faster enlightenment.

“To accept yourself as you are is not easy either. However, accepting yourself as you are will also help to bring about enlightenment.

“So, why,” I hear you ask, “why go through the trauma of making change?”

“To that, I reply; because change is the surest way for you to find, and have, faith in yourself! If you ‘sand down’ those warts and blemishes into a smooth skin, this will allow your innate beauty to shine through. In this way, you are building faith in yourself because you know that you can indeed improve yourself. Once one improvement is made, other improvements become easier because you are building on your faith.

“Once you have faith in self, you can begin to have faith in others; faith in your mate, faith in your offspring, faith in your friends and, above all, faith in a Supreme Being. Regardless of what you call that Supreme Being – God, Father, Mother, Allah, etc., etc., you will find that you have a faith that will not only carry you through whatever dark times may lie ahead, but it will be a faith that is so deeply imbedded within you that enlightenment will come in on the wings of an eagle.

“Having faith in a power greater than yourself is enlightenment, but first, you must have faith in yourself. In one form or another all of the Masters have stated that you are God-like, and this is true – but, YOU must have faith in yourself to know that this is true.

“Be faithful to yourself and grow in enlightenment!”
