James - 4November 14, 2004 Yesterday, I suggested that, if you wish for self-enlightenment, you must first have knowledge of self. To accomplish this, I gave you some aspects that you must first find out about yourself. You are not an imbecile so I know that you have realized that, by finding WHY you like, or dislike, or even hate someone, then you are finding out what you like, dislike, or even hate about yourself. I am not telling you anything new when I say that you like someone because they reflect something that you like about yourself. Likewise, you dislike, or even hate someone because they reflect something that you dislike, or even hate about yourself. A quick word about dislike and hate. At this point in your self-enlightenment we are not concerned whether it is “wrong” to dislike or hate. We are only presently concerned as to WHY. Once the reason has been determined then, if you wish, you can work on changing that dislike or hate. To get back to the subject matter; Finding out WHY you like someone is simply a backdoor entrance into finding out what it is that you like (or dislike) about yourself. That is the first step in knowing self. Once you become fully knowledgeable about yourself you can then, if you so desire, begin to change yourself so that you can accept yourself for what you are. I repeat that in a slightly different way … you are who you are. You are unique. Know yourself, know your uniqueness, accept yourself and, if desired, change yourself so that your uniqueness is something that allows you to see yourself reflected in ALL persons whom you meet. Self-enlightenment starts with self-knowledge. So, the big question is … ‘How well do you know yourself?’ If your answer is “Not very well,” then I recommend that you begin by re-reading what I said yesterday and then follow my suggestions.
